Emergency Services

Emergency Services at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital include a 24/7 Emergency Department as well as Ambulance Service. Our Emergency Department is very proud to be a Level IV Trauma Center. 

Laboratory Services

The lab provides laboratory testing in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation Monitoring, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Transfusion Services, and Serological procedures.

The highlight of the clinical lab is same day test results because practically all tests are conducted in house. These results are sent electronically to the medical provider. The staff takes great pride in providing the community with accurate and same day results.

Outpatient Nursing Center

A wide variety of services are available that require the assistance of a nurse, but not the presence of a physician. Services offered include:

  • IV therapies
  • Wound care
  • Port flushes
  • Allergy injections
  • Cancer Adjunct therapies such as neulasta and neupogen
  • Routine medication injections
  • Dressing changes

Case Management

  • Information and assistance with Advance Directives
  • Facilitation of advance care planning discussions
  • Social Service Assessments to determine patient needs
  • Discharge planning
  • Linkage and referral to community resources
  • Assistance with nursing home or inpatient rehabilitation placement
  • Medication Assistance Program
  • Patient Advocacy
  • Swing Bed Program
  • Consultations

Diabetes Education and Management

Pocahontas Memorial Hospital is very proud that their “B-N-Charge” class an American Diabetes Association recognized program. ADA believes that this program offers high-quality education that is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment.

Terry Wagner is a Certified Diabetes Educator here at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital who is available to help anyone in the community – not just hospital patients. A Certified Diabetes Educator has a national certification backed up by education, training, and work-related experience to help people with diabetes live healthy and productive lives.
