Laboratory Services

The Laboratory Department at the new Acadian Medical Center provides laboratory services for both inpatients and outpatients. Under the direction of a board- certified Pathologist, the Laboratory is in operation for 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.

The Laboratory is staffed by licensed medical professionals who perform testing at the request of those individuals licensed by the state of Louisiana to order Laboratory tests. The staff consists of competent laboratory assistants who perform the blood drawing. Registered Medical Technologists process the specimens, perform the testing, and assess the test results and submit to the physician for interpretation in treating patients.

Completed Laboratory Reports will be faxed and/or mailed to your physician's office as soon as possible.

Surgical Services

Acadian Medical Center's Surgical Department features three Operating Rooms and two Procedure Rooms for minor procedures.

The Surgery Department is open daily Monday - Friday for elective procedures and 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week for emergent procedures.

All nursing staff is PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certified.

The Surgeons of Acadian Medical Center represent specialties such as: General Surgery, ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat), Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Cardiology, Urology, Podiatry, Endoscopy (Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, & Stretta), and Anesthesiology. AMC provides the latest procedures with top-of-the-line technology and equipment.

Women's Center

The all new Women's Center at Acadian Medical Center offers you hope, encouragement, experience, and technology. We are dedicated to you, understand your healthcare needs, and respect your desire for trust and comfort.

We offer a wide range of services from prenatal classes to a seven bed unit with six labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartal suites. Our unit is designed to foster a home-like atmosphere with new larger suites to better accommodate our patients and their families.

Our Women's Center has complete obstetrical care coverage by four Board Certified Obstetricians and with all OB nurses having obtained fetal monitoring certifications as well as 100% staff certificiation in Neonatal resuscitation.

Intensive Care Unit

Acadian Medical Center's ICU is a six-bed unit. The diversity of patients we care for are medical, surgical, cardiac and pediatric. This unit is staffed with excellent, compassionate and highly qualified Registered and Licensed Practical Nurses. All of the nurses are certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Our patients can expect quality care in a community atmosphere.

ICU visiting hours are at: 10 am, 1 pm, 5 pm and 8 pm.

Visits are limited to 30 minutes. Two family members are allowed in at a time. No children under the age of 12 are allowed except at the charge nurses discretion.

Emergency Services

Our Emergency Services Department is staffed and ready, 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide the emergency care that you and your family need. Because we are close to home, you can count on us when seconds really count in an emergency.

All ED staff are BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Life Support) certified.
