Managing a Child's Loose Tooth
Managing a Child's Loose Tooth
Sometimes a loose baby tooth refuses to come out on its own. If a child's tooth moves back and forth easily without pain, follow these steps to pull it out:
Wash your hands with soap and water.
Have the child open wide.
Using a clean gauze pad to improve your grip, gently pull the tooth out with your fingers.
Have the child lean slightly forward if the gum around the tooth bleeds.
Using a new gauze pad, apply pressure to the gum area until the bleeding stops.
Seek professional medical or dental help if bleeding continues after applying pressure for 15 minutes.
