What is this medicine?

SIMETHICONE (sye METH i kone) is used to decrease the discomfort caused by gas.

How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth. Use the special dropper included with the medicine. The dosage can be mixed with one ounce of cool water, infant formula or other suitable liquids to ease administration. Follow the directions on the label or those given to you by your doctor or health care professional. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. While this drug may be used in children as young as newborns for selected conditions, precautions do apply.

What side effects may I notice from receiving this medicine?

There are no reported side effects of this medicine.

What may interact with this medicine?

Interactions are not expected.

What if I miss a dose?

This does not apply; this medicine is not for regular use.

Where should I keep my medicine?

Keep out of the reach of children.

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.

What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • an unusual or allergic reaction to simethicone, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives

  • pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • breast-feeding

What should I watch for while using this medicine?

Tell your doctor or healthcare professional if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse, or if you have severe pain, diarrhea, constipation, or blood in your stool. These could be signs of a more serious condition.
