What are Loratadine; Montelukast tablets?

LORATADINE; MONTELUKAST is used to treat allergies. It helps to relieve sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, and itchy, watery eyes.

This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

• asthma

• liver disease

• kidney disease

• an unusual or allergic reaction to loratadine, montelukast, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives

• pregnant or trying to get pregnant

• breast-feeding

How should this medicine be used?

This medicine should be given by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take this medicine at the same time every day. Do not stop taking your medicine unless your doctor tells you to.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

What drug(s) may interact with Loratadine; Montelukast?

• anti-infectives like rifampin and rifabutin

• medicines for diabetes like rosiglitazone and repaglinide

• medicines for seizures like phenytoin, phenobarbital, and carbamazepine

• other medicines for allergies

• paclitaxel

What should I watch for while taking Loratadine; Montelukast?

Your mouth may get dry. Chewing sugarless gum or sucking hard candy, and drinking plenty of water may help. Contact your doctor if the problem does not go away or is severe.

You may get drowsy or dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental alertness until you know how this medicine affects you. Do not stand or sit up quickly, especially if you are an older patient. This reduces the risk of dizzy or fainting spells.

What side effects may I notice from receiving Loratadine; Montelukast?

Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:

• allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue

• dark urine

• difficulty breathing or wheezing

• feeling of pins and needles or numbness of arms or legs

• fever or infection

• flu-like symptoms (chills, fatigue, fever, muscle aches)

• unusual bruising or bleeding

• unusually restless or nervous

• yellowing of the eyes or skin

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):

• cough

• difficulty sleeping

• dizziness

• drowsiness

• dry or irritated mouth or throat

• headache

• stomach upset

Where can I keep my medicine?

Keep out of the reach of children.

Store at room temperature as recommended by your pharmacist. Protect from moisture. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
