What to Leave With Your Baby Sitter

  • Emergency numbers, including a number where you may be reached and the name and number of a neighbor who'll be home.

  • Snacks, especially if you are away for more than three hours. Let the sitter know what the children may eat so there is no confusion.

  • Rules for TV watching. Explain what channels to avoid, if any.

  • Rules for friends and phone calls. If you don't want your baby sitter talking on the phone or if you object to friends stopping by, speak up. Parents want sitters to avoid any distractions and devote their time to the kids.
